Going out in Munich can be dangerous. But I don’t mean in a ‘please don’t mug me mister robber man’ sort of way. I’m more leaning towards the ‘this beer tastes so nice I could drink gallons of it!’ sort of way.
Beer in Munich is nothing short of glorious. Plus, in relation to many other cities around Europe, it’s cheap. A pint shouldn’t cost you anything more than €3. But Munich isn’t a city where the streets are teeming with revellers engaging in acts of drunken debauchery. Bavarians drink beers how it’s meant to be drunk – in moderation and in good spirits.
Munich’s infamous beer halls/gardens are where most locals can be found enjoying their pints. Those around Marienplatz are filtered with too many tourists although they do present travellers with great opportunities of meeting people. When you want to stretch your night into the early hours, get on an S-train bound for Ostbahnhof and visit Kunstpark OST. Even if you don’t plan on going to a nightclub, it’s worth the short train journey just to see locals roll out of one club and down the neon-lit lanes to the next one.
